Microneedling Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that heals skin imperfections and damage. At Sage Wellness and Medspa, Ms. Gonzalez uses microneedling to manage various dermatological problems, including acne scars and facial wrinkles.

During treatment, Yvette uses a handheld device to make a series of microscopic puncture wounds in the top layer of your skin. These wounds stimulate your body’s natural healing process and encourage the production of proteins, like collagen.

Collagen is one of the most plentiful proteins in your body, but it decreases with age. As a result, your skin doesn’t heal itself as well, resulting in blemishes, scars, and wrinkles.

Microneedling treatments help your skin stay vibrant and healthy.

What types of skin problems can microneedling treat?

At Sage Wellness and Medspa, Ms. Gonzalez uses microneedling to promote radiant-looking skin. Treatment helps even out your skin’s texture and pore size, making it look smoother, softer, and younger.

At your initial consultation, you identify the concern that you want to target with the treatment. Nearly 90% of people who undergo microneedling say they would recommend it to friends and family.

Ms. Gonzalez uses microneedling to treat:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Enlarged pores
  • Sagging skin
  • Acne scars

After treatment, your skin feels silky and appears much younger. Even so, you may need to commit to several treatments to achieve optimal results.

What does microneedling involve?

At your initial consultation, Ms. Gonzalez explains how to prepare for microneedling treatment. You may need to stop taking certain medications or using certain skin products for a few days leading up to your appointment.

Before the procedure begins, Ms. Gonzalez spreads a topical anesthetic across your skin, ensuring treatment is comfortable and pain-free. Then, she uses an FDA-cleared medical device to make tiny punctures in your skin. The wounds prompt your body’s healing process, improving your skin quality.

What is recovery like after microneedling?

After microneedling, you can return to work and other activities right away. You may experience mild redness or increased skin sensitivity for a day or two, but these symptoms should resolve quickly.

Let your skin heal for several days before applying any makeup. In addition, apply sunscreen before spending time outside. Sun exposure can negatively affect your treatment results.
